Gr. 5 Simple Machines project
There are 5 simple machines inclined plane, wedge, lever, pully, and wheel and axle.
Simple machines have only a few moving parts. Some have none.Simple machines help people do work.

Here is some links to games, websites and videos that are realted to Simple Machines.

About Simple machines.
The Inclined plane
The inclined plane is a sloping surface, such as a ramp. It is one of the most important machines used in industry. The inclined plane making lifting or moving an object easier. If you push an object up a ramp, you must move it a longer distance than if you tried to lift it strait up, but less effort is needed to move it. by using the inclined plane, the same amount of work is done in an easier way.

The Wedge
The wedge is actually an inclined plane turned on the side. But not like the inclined plane, it pushes things apart by pushing the wedge in the object. Shovel,ax etc... are all wedges. Wedges an be round too like the tip of a nail. However, if you want to push it more apart, you have to push the wedge more in.
The Screw
The Screw is a inclined plane wrapped around a pole.A screw holds objects together. The sharp edge goes through some thing. Brace and Bits, meat grinders, drills, screw lid jars, door locks, and submurine hatches are all screws.

The Lever
The lever is a long board with a thing in the middle called fulcrum. If you put an object in one end and push down the other end, it would be more easier than to lift it up.There are 3-classes of levers. The first kind is with the fulcrum in the middle and you put the load on one end and push the other end. for example,an trolley is an first class lever. The second is, thhere is the fulcrum on one end, the load on the board, and the force pulling it up.For example, an wheelbarrow is a second class lever. The third is the load on one end, the fulcrum on the other, the force pulling. For example, an fishing rod is a third class lever.

Wheel and Axle
Wheel and axle helps you to move things. There is one or two wheels on ends, and a pole called axle going through them. The axle doesn't move, but the wheel(s) move. the wheels on : cars trains planes etc. are all wheel and axle.

The Pulley
A pulley is a wheel connected to a pole (or stand) with a groove on the wheel. A pulley can help you for things like lifting something up.A rope goes in the groove of the wheel. there is a object connected to the rope on one side. the force is pulling down, on the other side of the rope. There are many kinds of pulleys. However, there is one thing to explain everything. The more wheels there are, the least effort there is.AlexMoon/Well the three main pulleys, I must explain are....The Fixed pulley! The Movable pulley! and the compound pulley!
A fixed pulley is simply only changing the way of the force. A movable pulley is a pulley that the pulley moves with the load. a compund pulley is the fixed pulley and the movable pulley together. You pull down, (like the fixed pulley) but the pulley is connected to the object.
Well, but Here are some examples of pulleys: flagpole, cranes in construction, window blinds, garage doors, and a basket ball lift, are all pulleys.

My Project

This is the picture of my Lego TM Bionicle launcher.
I wonder if it is a Simple Machine. the things I know now is that there is a spring and it pushes the bullets(balls).
This is my lego rock monster.
The jaw is a lever,.....
the arms are a wheel and axle!

Push it up the Inclined Plane!!!

Three Simple Machines! There is an Inclined Plane/ Lever and a Pulley!!!
